TEAM NEWS

Pep Guardiola has confirmed John Stones and Kyle Walker will miss our home game against Arsenal on Sunday.

Walker was forced off in the first-half of England’s 1-0 defeat to Brazil at Wembley, and there was further bad news when Stones had to come off with injury in the first few minutes of England’s 2-2 draw with Belgium.

The City boss didn’t expand on the length of time either defender will be absent.

“Kyle’s [injury is] more tough than John’s but they will be out - I don’t know for how many games,” said Pep.

On a brighter note, Guardiola added that Ederson is “much better” and added the Manuel Akanji was “okay”.

Kevin De Bruyne could also be available for the visit of the Gunners.

The Belgian - along with England international Jack Grealish - both trained on Thursday and could be in contention for Sunday having both been unavailable for international duty.

PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW

"[Arsenal have the] Same manager, a few new players.

"They control the aspects of the game and every game is better and better.

"Obviously they have improved. I wouldn’t expect differently from the start of the season.

"[It's] Good to be here. The season has been really good, winning two titles after what happened last season.

"We are in contention for three main titles of the season. We make incredible work.

"In the last ten games of the Premier League, we start an important time. The people will give us what we need to perform our best."

PREVIOUS MEETING

An unfortunate deflected goal off Nathan Ake saw City slip to a 1-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium in October.

In a match of few chances, the game looked to be heading for a stalemate until Gabrielli Martinelli’s 86th minute shot from the edge of the box struck the Dutch defender in the face, wrongfooting Ederson and rolling into the empty net.

LAST TIME OUT

City secured a safe passage into the semi-finals of the FA Cup and continued our defence of our trophy with a 2-0 win over Newcastle with Bernardo Silva getting both goals in the Etihad.

Our last Premier League outing was on 10 March when John Stones scored in a 1-1 draw away to Liverpool.

TV INFORMATION

Our clash with Mikel Arteta’s side will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports.
