Captain Taylor Harwood-Bellis was on the scoresheet as England U21s beat Azerbaijan 5-1 in Baku.

Harwood-Bellis was joined in the starting XI by fellow City men Callum Doyle, Rico Lewis and James McAtee.

England were dominant throughout and claimed the victory thanks to a Harvey Elliott brace plus strikes from Noni Madueke, Archie Gray and Harwood-Bellis.

The result leaves Lee Carsley's side on 15 points from six games in Group F for qualification for the 2025 European Championships.

Eliott's opener came in the 25th minute when he controlled a cross and tucked it in the corner.

The advantage was doubled just four minutes later after a long run down the left by Hull City's Jaden Philogene ended with a cross and scrambled finish by Madueke.

Harwood-Bellis' goal came shortly into the second half, meeting a corner with a powerful header that was deflected into the corner.

Elliott got his second of the afternoon in the 67th minute with a first-time finish after former City player Morgan Rogers crossed from the left.

Azerbaijan pulled one back in the 86th minute when Ramin Nasirli followed up a James Trafford save to turn home.

However, we soon restored our four goal advantage when Leeds United's Gray tucked home from a tight angle.

That's how the score remained in an emphatic victory for Carsley's team.

Doyle, on loan at Leicester City, has played 19 times this season for Enzo Maresca's promotion chasers.

Harwood-Bellis has played on 33 occasions this season for Southampton, who are currently on course for the Championship play-offs.

James McAtee returned to Sheffield United last summer after a highly successful season in Yorkshire in 2022/23. While the Blades have struggled, he has played 24 times in his first campaign in the top flight.

Lewis has played 21 times for Pep Guardiola's City this season, with 10 appearances in the Premier League and seven in the Champions League.
