Italian Serie B side Palermo have been taken over by the City Football Group, according to expert Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Rosanero join a number of clubs linked to Manchester City’s holding company that includes New York City FC, Melbourne City FC and Girona.
While Palermo are not a traditional giant, the club can boast a rich history and the Sicilian city is the fifth biggest in Italy, with a huge potential supporter base.
The club had declined in recent years, thanks in part to the erratic ownership of Maurizio Zamparini, which saw them slide from the top flight down to Serie D.
Yet recently they have bounced back, and are now just one promotion away from Serie A.
