Cult hero Christopher Jullien has completed his Celtic exit by returning to France with Montpellier.

The French defender fell out of favour under Ange Postecoglou, failing to dislodge the Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt centre-back partnership after making his long-awaited return from a lengthy knee injury earlier this year.

As a result, he has now departed to join Montpellier, with the Ligue 1 side announcing his arrival on a three-year deal for a reported €1m transfer fee.

Jullien came close to leaving for Schalke previously in the transfer window, only to fail a medical with the German outfit.

He departs the Hoops after three years and was a treble winner in 2020 in addition to netting 10 goals in 62 appearances in all competitions.

Among his memorable moments were a League Cup final winner against Rangers in 2019 and a last minute winner in the Europa League against Lazio at Parkhead.
