AS Monaco announces the one-season loan, with an option to buy, of Chrislain Matsima, a 22-year-old French defender, to FC Augsburg.
Originally from Colombes, in the Paris region, Chrislain Matsima was trained at AS Monaco, where he has played 41 matches with the first team since his professional debut in September 2020, at the age of 18, against RC Strasbourg (3-2 victory).
With the Rouge & Blanc, Chrislain helped the team reach the final of the Coupe de France in 2021. He also helped them finish on the podium in Ligue 1 three times — in 2021, 2022 and 2024. At the same time, Chrislain played on loan at FC Lorient (in 2022) and Clermont Foot 63 (in 2024).
His performances opened the doors to the French Espoirs in the fall of 2023. With Thierry Henry’s Olympic Team, he won this summer the silver medal in Paris, alongside Maghnes Akliouche and Soungoutou Magassa.
Chrislain is now preparing to join Germany and FC Augsburg, 11th in the most recent Bundesliga season.
