Javier Eduardo López confessed to TUDN on Friday that Chivas must learn to work together in a group before they start taking their title conquests seriously.
Though they remain unbeaten in the league, they have only won once so far in 2020 and were eliminated in the Copa MX round-of-16 by second-tier Dorados.
With seven new players in the squad, López understands it will take some time to adapt before Chivas start to play their best football.
“We are in the Liguilla places right now, but first the team has to play well (before we think about titles).
“First we have to get stronger at all positions and establish a style of play, which is the most important thing in a group when many new reinforcements arrive.”
Despite appearing 162 times for Chivas in his career, López has yet to earn a cap for El Tri. This year, he hopes to change that.
“I have the Mexican national team in mind and I would love to be there in 2020.”
So far in 2020, in addition to an assist, López has bagged a pair of goals in four Liga MX contests – both from the penalty spot.
Chivas will travel to face Tigres on Saturday, with Jesús Sánchez the only confirmed absence in the squad.
