Now one of the most recognisable female footballers in the country, Kelly has returned to playing for Manchester City in the Women’s Super League.

The 24-year-old joined the club in 2020, having started out her professional career at Arsenal and moving on to Everton in 2018.

Kelly made her debut for the Gunners in 2015, aged just 17. It is clear she has been a baller from day one.

A clip from Kelly’s time at Arsenal shows how brilliant a player she has always been.

Although the video was posted on Twitter in 2018, it was originally posted on Kelly’s Instagram in January 2016.

It is likely to be during a match for Arsenal’s youth team, who appear to be playing Leicester City.

In the clip, Kelly receives the ball on the wing. With a defender approaching her, she shows fancy footwork to nutmeg the player and continue her brilliant run towards goal.

The young star posted the video with the clip: “Little megs 😇, can’t wait to be back 🙏 … Let’s see what this new year brings …”.

Euro 2022 hero

Kelly’s heroics during Euro 2022 saw her gain 135,378 new followers on Instagram, and her now-iconic celebration will go down in sporting history.

The star whipped off her shirt after scoring the winning goal and whirled it around her head, recreating Brandi Chastain’s iconic celebration at the 1999 Women’s World Cup.

Chastain responded to the celebration, writing: “I see you @Chloe_Kelly98 well done.

“Enjoy the free rounds of pints and dinners for the rest of your life from all of England. Cheers!”

Kelly, a lifelong QPR fan, later received a hero’s welcome at Loftus Road as she carried the match ball out. The bus route she used to take as a teenager, which went past Wembley Stadium, has also been named after her.

But Kelly has returned to the WSL with a bump, after Manchester City lost their two opening games of the season. Defeats have come against Aston Villa and Chelsea.
