After having a fantastic season with Chivas and a stellar performance with the Mexican national team at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Alexis Vega returned to Chivas for the 2021 Apertura tournament.
However, there is a great fear that he could leave the club this summer due to his emergence and Chivas’ current financial issues.
According to various Portuguese media, Porto FC have become candidates to land his signature and it’s claimed that they have made a first formal offer of €8.4m (roughly $9.85m) for 100% of the player’s rights.
The same reports state that Chivas have rejected the offer and are holding out for an offer of €10m ($11.75m).
At €8.4m, Chivas would only turn a small profit since they purchased 80% of his rights from Toluca in 2019 for $6m, meaning Toluca would receive $2m while Chivas would ‘celebrate’ a measly profit of a hair under $2m themselves.
Chivas currently have a clear intention of keeping Vega this season so Porto will have to step up their offer should they be serious about bringing in Vega this summer.
