Chivas continues its preparation for the 2025 Apertura, which includes two preparation matches in the Morelos Cup, to be played at the Agustín 'Coruco' Díaz Stadium. It is precisely at the Morelos stadium where Guadalajara left an important chapter in the stadium's history, which dates back just over 10 years.
Guadalajara was the guest of honor at the reinauguration of the then home of Zacatepec Siglo XXI, completely renovated to the image it has today. It was on August 27, 2014 when Cañeros and Rojiblancos met for Key 2 of Group 3 of the Copa MX AP14.
The party in the jungle of Morelos took place in the stands and on the field at the 'Coruco', as the joy of the local fans was reciprocated by both teams, who engaged in an attractive duel in the Copa MX competition. The hosts sought to do so through impetus and speedy overlaps, while the Rebaño Sagrado did so through ball possession.
The Chiva Nation of Morelos exploded at 35', when Kristian Álvarez took advantage of a corner kick, rose up inside the area and hammered the ball into the back of the Cañera net. In the second half, David Toledo put the icing on the cake, after a good effort by Aldo De Nigris to bring down a cross from the right for the Rojiblanco midfielder's clear finish inside the box.
With this, Chivas won the key against Zacatepec 4-1 on aggregate, thus securing the leadership of Group 3, and at the same time had the honor of being present at the reinauguration of a historic Mexican soccer facility, in the midst of a veritable Morelos festival.
This Friday, June 20, Guadalajara will once again step on the pitch of the Agustín 'Coruco' Díaz Stadium, this time to face its new tenant, another historic Mexican football team: Atlante.
