The 29-year-old joined The Blues in November 2017 and she has played a big part in her side’s domestic dominance in recent seasons.
Chelsea issued a media update this morning confirming that Andersson will leave the club this summer upon the expiry of her contract. The player will return to her native Sweden where she has agreed to join Hammarby IF.
Speaking following the announcement, Chelsea manager Emma Hayes said “Jonna has been an unbelievable professional during her time with us and instrumental in our success. Her level of commitment to this team has been unreal.
“I’ve no doubt she’ll continue to better herself right to the end of the season and we’ll be sure to give her the send-off she deserves.”
Andersson has made 130 appearances in all competitions so far in her Chelsea career. The player has won three league titles with The Blues while she has lifted both domestic cups on two occasions and won the FA Women’s Community Shield last season. Andersson was also a member of the team which reached the UEFA Women’s Champions League final for the very first time in 2020/2021.
The defender was most recently a second half substitute for Chelsea in their 5-0 victory over Reading at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.
