Chelsea's new ownership group have been actively engaging in talks with various agents and intermediaries since completing their takeover of the club, 90min can confirm, with Cristiano Ronaldo's name raised in a meeting with Jorge Mendes.

A consortium led by LA Dodgers co-owner Todd Boehly completed its purchase of Chelsea in May and immediately set about touching base with a host of key contacts ahead of the summer transfer window.

Among those was super-agent Mendes, who counts the likes of Ronaldo, Joao Felix and David de Gea among his clients.

Ronaldo's name was raised in the introductory conversation, as well as numerous others. However, sources have told 90min that it was merely to stay informed of the Manchester United star and other clients' respective situations, with no bid forthcoming.

Indeed, 90min understands as many as 30 players were discussed in the face-to-face meeting.

37-year-old Ronaldo has 12 months left to run on his United contract and has been linked with a move away this summer, but 90min has been informed that he is a key figure in new manager Erik ten Hag's plans for the upcoming season.

Chelsea are looking to reinforce their attacking ranks with Romelu Lukaku poised to return to Inter on loan. However, Manchester City's Raheem Sterling and Ousmane Dembele are their priority targets as it stands, while the Blues are also keeping tabs on Ajax wide man Antony - who is a key attacking target for Man Utd.
