Chelsea Women completed a stunning domestic treble by adding the FA Cup to their trophy haul by thrashing Arsenal at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.
Scorers: Kirby 3âČ, Kerr 57âČ, 77âČ
Emma Hayesâ side already had last seasonâs league title and League Cup in the trophy cabinet and were seeking to add the final piece of the jigsaw for their first ever treble.
They got off to the perfect start when Fran Kirby pounced on a loose ball 30 yards from goal and raced through before poking into the corner to stun the Gunners.
Both she and Sam Kerr were denied a second by Manuela Zinsberger, who was in inspired first half form to keep her side in the contest.
But the Austrian was finally beaten again after half-time when Kerr, who was also kept out by the crossbar earlier, got her goal by racing in on the left and wrongfooting Zingsberger to finish.
The post denied a rampant Chelsea a third but they wouldnât be kept out for long and clinched the game in style when Kerr claimed her second inside the final 15 minutes with a sublime chip.
With victory, Chelsea become just the second club to achieve that particular domestic treble after Arsenal themselves.
