The Blues suffered a 1-0 loss in the first leg at Stamford Bridge this afternoon. Caroline Graham Hansen netted the game’s only goal in the fourth minute of the match.
The odds are stacked heavily against Chelsea going into the second leg in Spain on Thursday but midfielder Harder says that the team still believe that they can qualify for the final.
“We have another game to play,” Harder said when speaking to the media after this afternoon’s first leg. “It is only half-time and we are obviously a goal down.
“We have the belief that we can do something in Barcelona.”
The Dane went on to discuss Barcelona’s strengths. She said that it is their ball skills and positioning that makes them such a difficult opponent to play against.
She said “They’re great with the ball and they are really good positionally; they always have one or two players to be able to bring into play, that’s their playing style.”
There is little time for Chelsea to dwell on this afternoon’s defeat and Harder says that the team will quickly turn their focus to Thursday’s second leg.
“I think it is nice that we don’t have any games in between,” the midfielder said. “We can just focus on Barcelona and prepare ourselves for this game, so that’s good.”
Chelsea’s UEFA Women’s Champions League semi-final, second leg tie in Barcelona kicks-off at 5.45pm on Thursday evening.
