The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning. Chelsea are believed to have paid an undisclosed fee to secure the player’s services.
Björn has spent the last two-and-a-half years with Everton after joining the club in summer 2021. The player has made 44 appearances for The Blue Girls in the Barclays Women’s Super League while she has scored two goals.
On the international stage, Björn is an important member of the Swedish national team. She has been capped by her country on 61 occasions and has scored six goals. She was a member of the Swedish team which finished third at the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia and New Zealand 2023.
At club level, Björn was keen to take on a fresh challenge and she will now have that at new club Chelsea.
After joining The Blues, Björn said “It feels amazing. To sign for one of the biggest clubs in Europe feels like part of a dream that you have when you are young. I’m very excited to get this journey started.”
Björn becomes Chelsea manager Emma Hayes’ first addition of the January transfer window. The South West Londoners could look to complete further business before the window closes at the end of the month.
