The 19-year-old winger is expected to sign a seven-year contract at Stamford Bridge, in a deal worth £48 million plus £3.5 million in add-ons. While contractual terms are still to be finalised, Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl praised the player’s development and acknowledged the importance of the transfer for both clubs.

“Jamie is an outstanding player who has given us a great deal of pleasure. He now wants to take the next step in his career at Chelsea, and we wish him all the best and much success,” said Kehl.
Chelsea’s pursuit of young, high-ceiling talents continues under their current transfer strategy, with Gittens fitting the profile of players the club see as long-term assets.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens represents everything Chelsea has been trying to do in recent windows, identify elite young talent before they become untouchable, and bring them into a system that can unlock their full potential.
People who have followed his rise at Dortmund know the talent is real. He has shown flashes of brilliance in the Bundesliga, particularly with his close control, acceleration and fearlessness in one-v-one situations. At 19, he already has European experience and the temperament to grow into a key figure at Stamford Bridge.

There is also a sense that this is a signing made with a long-term plan in mind. A seven-year deal underlines Chelsea’s commitment and belief in his development. While the £48 million fee plus add-ons may raise eyebrows, this is a market that rewards clubs willing to bet early and smart.
For Chelsea fans eager to see an attack built on pace, unpredictability and flair, this is a very welcome move. Gittens might not be the finished product, but he is certainly a thrilling one.
