Chelsea sell versatile midfielder to Crewe
the Chelsea News
Chelsea have today announced the sale of Tariq Uwakwe to Crewe on a permanent deal.
After 14 years at Chelsea, it’s a big day for the versatile midfielder, who moves to League One where he had success with Accrington Stanley last season. He has spent this season so far back in the youth teams, so it was clearly time for him so spread his wings and leave the nest.
It’s another blow for the development squad however, who are hovering just above the relegation zone, and look in need of some more quality if they want to stay up.
Tariq has been at Chelsea since under 9s, and was part of the under 18s team that won a treble in 2017/2018. He also won the Toulon Tournament that year with England, whom he has represented at under 19 level.
Much like the dev squad, Crewed are fighting relegation, and they will see Tariq as an injection of quality that can hopefully fire them clear of trouble.
