Chelsea have reportedly joined Liverpool and Manchester United in the race to sign 18-assist Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho.

According to Bild, as transcribed by SportsMole, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel, who previously managed Dortmund, is keen to add Sancho to his squad at the end of the season.

The report claims that Sancho is available this summer as Dortmund have an agreement with the forward that he can leave if a reasonable offer comes in for him, with United and Liverpool having been linked with him this year.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Chelsea could have joined the race at the right time as it appears as though Liverpool could be on the verge of backing out. Liverpool journalist Melissa Reddy has claimed Covid-19 has scuppered the club’s plans to make a marquee signing, like Sancho, this summer. Reddy says Liverpool were saving up money to make a huge addition to their squad, but that money has now been used to plug gaps caused by the pandemic over the last 12 months or so.

This means that Liverpool may end up dropping out of the chasing pack and allowing Chelsea and United to battle it out for his signature. It is a shame as the 18-assist winger has been in fine form for Dortmund again this season. He has racked up 12 goals and 18 assists in 34 appearances in all competitions for the German club, including two goals and three assists in six Champions League outings.
