In a recent report, journalist Steve Kay mentioned that Chelsea have reignited their interest in Southampton youngster Tyler Dibling this summer. It has been revealed that the Blues are eyeing a move to acquire the services of the English wide player this off-season.

Dibling’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Dibling managed to shine at times for the Saints in the final third in the previous campaign. The English talent participated in 38 matches for Southampton last season, netting four goals and picking up three assists in all competitions.

The 19-year-old caught the eye on the right flank by averaging 1.34 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 32.1% of his attempts on target. Dibling was even tidy when distributing the ball in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass completion rate of 81.3% in the English top tier (stats via fbref.com).

Dibling’s current contract at the English club will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it difficult for the Blues to sign him on the cheap in this transfer period.

Chelsea Reignite Their Interest In Dibling: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Dibling has got the pace to cause a lot of headaches for his marker out in the wide areas. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The English talent can contribute by scoring and creating some important goals on the offensive end of the field. However, he is still quite inexperienced at the highest level and would need time to prove his worth at a top club like Chelsea.

Dibling is already good enough to challenge for a first-team spot at Stamford Bridge. He would undoubtedly enhance the quality of Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca’s frontline in the long run.

At 19, Dibling has the potential to be a top talent in English football. He is a prospect to watch out for in the future, so the Blues would be wise to bring him on board in this summer transfer window. However, Maresca has to be patient with his progress before he can unlock the best out of the gifted winger at the West London club.
