Everton are close to signing highly rated winger Tyler Dibling from Southampton for just over £40 million, according to The Athletic.
The deal to bring Dibling to Merseyside will reportedly include a 20 percent sell-on clause. The finer details of the structure are still being finalised.
The Toffees have already agreed personal terms, and the 19-year-old is set to undergo a medical on Merseyside early next week.
Everton initially lodged a £40m bid, but Southampton countered with a £45m valuation plus add-ons and a 25% sell-on clause.
That figure proved beyond what Everton were willing to pay and they briefly considered alternative targets.
Everton have since returned to the table and are determined to secure a player widely regarded as one of the brightest young English attackers outside the Premier League.
The teenager signed a contract with Southampton running until 2027 and became a first-team regular last season, bagging four goals and three assists in 38 appearances in all competitions.
His signing represents a significant coup for Everton, whose recruitment team have been aggressive in targeting young talent this window.
Pundits have claimed Dibling is ‘going to be something special‘ and he would be a good fit for Everton.
Everton have signed Jack Grealish (loan), Thierno Barry, Adam Aznou, Mark Travers and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer.
The signing is a statement of intent for Everton. The club has spent the past few years scrapping for survival in the Premier League, but appear set for a brighter future.
