Chelsea are ready to splash the cash to secure the signing of Barcelona duo Frenkie de Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer, reports Sky Sports.

Chelsea have had a largely frustrating transfer window so far, missing out on several of their top targets – losing out to Barcelona on quite a few occasions.

The Blues managed to exact some measure of revenge by retaining Cesar Azpilicueta’s services and are now seemingly plotting a double raid on the Blaugrana for the signing of de Jong and Aubameyang.

Chelsea are in the market for a new midfielder and have identified de Jong as a key target. They are willing to match the £72 million fee that Manchester United have offered to Barça for the Netherlands international’s services.

Recent reports indicated that the Premier League giants are inching closer to an agreement with Barcelona for the 25-year-old. However, convincing de Jong could be an issue as he is reluctant to leave Camp Nou until the Catalan giants settle his deferred wage payments.

Apart from de Jong, Chelsea are also pushing to sign Aubameyang as they look to add a new No. 9 to their roster after getting rid of both Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner.

It has been reported that Chelsea are already preparing an offer to sign the 33-year-old former Arsenal captain, just seven months after he arrived at Camp Nou as a free agent.

Aubameyang still has three years left on his contract with the Blaugrana. However, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is believed to be keen on working with the Gabonese striker, after having coached him for a couple of seasons at Borussia Dortmund.

The 33-year-old striker is no longer the first-choice striker at Camp Nou following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski earlier this summer. So, it will certainly be intriguing to see if Aubameyang is open to a return to London as he would likely be the undisputed starter at Chelsea.
