Chelsea are stepping up their pursuit for a No.9 this summer. As reported by The Independent, the club have stepped up their pursuit of Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitiké, whilst the publication also evokes an interest in Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres.
However, there is another name on the list, according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri. The Francophone journalist understands that Brighton and Hove Albion’s João Pedro (23) is another name on the list. Not only that, he is the club’s No.1 priority for the No.9 position this summer.
Their increased interest in the Brazilian comes amid Liverpool’s interest in Ekitiké. It is thought that the Merseyside club are ahead of Chelsea in the race to sign the Frenchman.
The Blues have therefore entered into talks with Pedro and are offering a seven-year deal with the option for a further year. Enzo Marseca has given the green light to the move. However, the striker will not come cheap. Brighton are not completely opposed to a sale, but they are demanding a fee of €90m.
