Chelsea are preparing a bid for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice.

The Daily Star says Chelsea are said to be 'ready to test the water' with an offer to West Ham for Rice, who starred for England at Euro 2020 alongside Kalvin Phillips.

The 22-year-old has made his name with the Hammers after being released by the Blues, but speculation over a move dried up following the departure of Frank Lampard as manager.

Although there will be plenty of negotiating needed if a deal is to go ahead, the fact that his former club are keen could turn the player's head this summer.

There is talk of West Ham slapping a £100m on Rice this summer.
