Chelsea willing to let Fikayo Tomori go out on loan to land Declan Rice

According to the Athletic, Chelsea are willing to loan out Fikayo Tomori to West Ham United to sweeten an offer for Declan Rice.

Having boosted his attack by signing Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner, Frank Lampard is keen to strengthen his team at the other end of the pitch.

He has identified former Chelsea youth product Declan Rice as the perfect player to do so. Compared to Blues legend John Terry, the youngster has thrived at West Ham United.

The Hammers are adamant to hold on to their prized possession and will demand upwards of £70million for the player. The Blues are keen to add Tomori as a makeweight to help bring down the fee.

Tomori made an excellent start to the season under Lampard and made 15 appearances before the turn of the year. He has only made seven since. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Currently recovering from injury, he is yet to play for us since the restart. This has given Andreas Christensen the chance to cement himself as Antonio Rudiger’s partner in defence.

It remains to be seen if Lampard is willing to break up the partnership in the coming weeks. With the season drawing to a close, Chelsea cannot afford to drop any points in the race for the top four.

Sending Tomori on loan will be a win-win for Chelsea. Not only do we land Rice but also ensure that a promising player such as Tomori gets regular game time.

Given the difference in quality between both the sides, Tomori is likely to start more for West Ham than Chelsea. Provided he develops as expected, the Blues will welcome back a player who will have developed and is ready to be integrated into our squad.
