Chelsea midfielder Kateřina Svitková has re-joined Czech club Slavia Prague on a permanent deal.

The Blues announced the news via a post on their official club website this morning.

Svitková joined Chelsea in summer 2022 after leaving former club West Ham United. The 28-year-old Czechia international midfielder has endured a difficult spell in South West London. The midfielder struggled for minutes in her first year with The Blues while injuries haven’t helped her cause. Svitková joined former club Slavia Prague on loan in the second half of last season in a bid to get game time and return to full fitness. She will now return to the Czech capital on a permanent basis.

In her time as a Chelsea player, Svitková has made six appearances for the club in all competitions. She was sidelined for the first five months of last season before going out on loan.

Speaking after her Chelsea departure was announced, Svitková said “Sometimes, it’s just not meant to be, even if you want it so much and do everything what you can.

“I would like to thank everyone who was always there for me. It was definitely a dream come true and I will never forget it. Never say never but for now, thank you Chelsea. To the amazing fans, you are incredible, you are the best.”

Svitková is the eighth player to leave Chelsea since the end of last season.
