The Premier League season is finished – now it’s all over bar the awards.

Chelsea players were nominated for both player of the year and young player of the year (although they didn’t win either), and one of them is up for goal of the year too.

Mateo Kovacic’s strike against Liverpool ended up being critical in the title race. The Reds were two goals up, and the Croatian’s wonderful volley put Chelsea back on track to earn a draw in the end.

The technique on it was superb, as you’d expect from Kova. He was leaning back, with defenders closing in and the ball dropping out of the lights, but he still managed to strike the ball perfectly into the top corner.

There is some pretty hot competition out there, but it’s no wonder it’s up there with the very best.
