It looks like Everton are not the only club keen on the services of 17-year-old wonderkid, Joe Gelhardt.
According to the Express, Chelsea boss, Frank Lampard is also keeping tabs on the youngester in hopes of making an offer for the Wigan Athletic prospect.
Gelhardt, 17, made his debut last season in a campaign that saw him score 12 goals in 15 appearances for the England under-17 side.
However, despite the interest from both clubs, Gelhardt is under contract for another two seasons which means Wigan will try and resist all temptation to cash in on him but could be left with little option.
An offer from Chelsea could be just what Everton does not want as Lampard is also known for his “youth movement”. Lampard earned a reputation at Derby County last season for giving youngsters a chance and that has continued with Chelsea under a two-window transfer ban.
