Chelsea join a host of clubs that are interested in signing Gabri Veiga

As per Spanish outlet AS (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have joined a list of many clubs that are interested in signing Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga in the summer transfer window.

Manchester City, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid and many more are monitoring the progress of the player who is most likely to leave his current club in the summer.

Veiga is a versatile midfielder who can play in a double pivot, as an attacking midfielder or as a winger if required. He can be a box-to-box number eight with an eye for a goal or two from midfield.

The Spanish U21 international got nine goals and four assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for Celta this season. He is technically strong as a player (most Spanish midfielders are) and works hard off the ball as well.

If one of the many clubs are interested in signing him in the coming transfer window, they will get a player who can offer flexibility and an equal level of quality wherever he is asked to play. That is a good trait to have for a young player like him.

Chelsea may have some departures from the midfield department in the coming days. They have permitted Manchester City to speak to Mateo Kovacic for a potential deal. Ruben Loftus-Cheek is close to moving to AC Milan. Mason Mount does seem like staying with Manchester United interested.

Last, but not the least, N’Golo Kante’s deal expires this summer and no extension has been signed yet. That was even though the Frenchman has expressed how excited he is to be a part of the club’s future.

So, signing Veiga would make sense for the club. The Spaniard’s versatility and the ability to score goals from midfield can be harnessed nicely by the new boss Mauricio Pochettino.
