According to a recent report by HLN, Chelsea are hoping to build a new empire by recruiting Kai Havertz from Bayer 04 Leverkusen this summer. However, the same source has also revealed that the Blues will have to pay around €80m if they are serious about securing the signature of the German playmaker during the summer transfer period.

Havertz’s Impressive Rise At The BayArena

The Aachen-born prospect has experienced the best season of his young career at the BayArena after producing quite a few match-winning performances as the principal playmaker of Peter Bosz’s attack. He has featured in 41 matches for Leverkusen this term, finding the back of the net on 16 occasions and providing nine assists on all fronts which highlight just how much he has matured as a footballer for his current employers.

The 21-year-old has been regularly productive with his attacking contributions based on his average of 2.0 shots, 2.0 key passes and 2.0 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga this season. He has hardly thrown away possession after completing 85.6% of his attempted passes in the German top tier so far (stats via whoscored).

Havertz has made a positive impression at the international stage, netting one goal in seven senior matches for the German national side. If he can show some signs of progress next season, then he will have a decent shot of being named in Joachim Low’s squad for next year’s UEFA European Championship finals following the competition’s postponement because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What Will The Bundesliga Playmaker Bring To Stamford Bridge?

Havertz can make some promising runs with the ball using his quickness and agility in and around the opposition penalty box. He is proficient at linking up with his teammates going forward and is not shy of putting in a tireless shift in the opposition half.

The German international can read the game well that enables him to get into some dangerous areas in the attacking third. He has the eye to pick out a killer pass and has transformed himself into an unforgiving finisher for  Peter Bosz’s team over the past 18 months.

Havertz will be a dream signing for the Blues as he will not only add more goals and creativity to Frank Lampard’s frontline but also enhance the overall quality of his first-team. Plus, the Leverkusen youngster will provide some healthy competition for the likes of Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek at Stamford Bridge next season.

At 21, Havertz is only going to get better with each season and has the potential to become a generational talent in the years to come. He would also serve as an ideal long-term replacement for Pedro and Willian at West London. All in all, Havertz has what it takes to be a success story in England, so Lampard should try his best to bring him to the Premier League ahead of the new season.
