After losing their Premier League opener, the Blues turned their attention to European competition and dug deep to win at Stamford Bridge.

A goalless first half led to some fans booing the hosts but the deadlock broke minutes after the restart.

Chelsea grabbed the lead when Christopher Nkunku scored from the penalty spot and pulled out his iconic balloon celebration. It goes down as the club’s first goal under their new manager.

And despite Servette outshooting the Blues 22 to 14, Noni Madueke received a ball over the top, cushioned it down perfectly and struck home a second.

It could have been Marc Guiu who made things 2-0, though, but the 18-year-old missed a wide-open net and the rebound.

Chelsea face Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday before visiting Servette for the second leg next week.
