Chelsea and Manchester United are considering a swap deal between Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.
The January window has less than two weeks remaining, and this is the point where things usually start to heat up with transfers.
The Blues haven’t done much business this month, with the only outgoing to date Renato Veiga joining Juventus on loan, whilst they have recalled Trevoh Chalobah and agreed a €15m deal with Strasbourg for Mamadou Sarr, who will arrive in the summer.
Chelsea have a number of players they are looking to move on before the end of the window and the clock is ticking on them to find solutions for the likes of Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Axel Disasi.
It’s no secret Chelsea are looking to strengthen in the attacking areas, and the club are in need of a striker to provide an alternative to Nicolas Jackson.
Despite being linked with moves for Liam Delap and Benjamin Sesko it seems the most likely attacking arrival this month would actually be a winger.

The Blues have been strongly linked winked with United’s Garnacho and are expected to make their first bid for the 20-year-old.
United are said to want £60m for the Argentina international, but it appears Chelsea are considering trying a different approach to bring the price down.
Plettenberg has reported that Chelsea and United are considering a swap deal between Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku.
He took to X.com and said:
“EXCL | Manchester United and Chelsea are considering a swap: Between Alejandro Garnacho and Christopher Nkunku. There is no final decision on this yet, but this swap is an idea that has been discussed. #MUFC #CFC”

Chelsea do need to move an attacker on in order to create space in the squad for Garnacho, and Nkunku has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
However, the Blues have been linked with a lot of these types of deals in the last few years and very few if any actually materialise, although that’s unlikely to stop the club from at least exploring the idea.
