On Friday, it was reported that Chelsea smashed a transfer record fee for Palmeiras’ Estevão Willian. The Blues beat out several clubs like Paris Saint-Germain to secure the 17-year-old, so they likely knew a fee of €65 million guaranteed without add-ons was needed to win this race.

The promising talent from South America has attracted attention from several clubs. The teenager has appeared in 21 matches so far this season, scoring seven goals and registering three assists.

So, which record did the Premier League club break to secure Willian, who will arrive in mid-2025? There’s also a PSG tie to that previous record as Diario AS reports (h/t Le10Sport) that the transfer price of Willian should be significantly higher than that of former PSG standout Neymar Jr.

FC Barcelona spent a total of €64 million to secure the services of the prodigy from Santos. Chelsea has reportedly offered €65 million, the amount Palmeiras is asking for the latest Brazilian rising star. It remains to be seen if another club will come forward with a better offer or if Chelsea does have their player.
