Following their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship at the end of last season, a number of players would leave Southampton in the summer transfer window.
In total, no fewer than 18 senior players would depart St Mary's while the window was open, following the drop out of the top-flight of English football.
However, one player who remained with the Saints, despite plenty of interest from elsewhere, was Che Adams.
Throughout the window, the striker was linked with Premier League clubs such as Everton and Wolves, although, ultimately, no deal materialised.
Since then, the Scotland international has scored eight goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for Russell Martin's side this season, as they look to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
But with the January transfer window now open, speculation is once again rife around the future of Adams.
So with that in mind, we've taken a look at the latest transfer news involving the Southampton striker, right here.
It appears that from Adams' own perspective, a return to the Premier League during the January transfer window is an appealing move.
According to a report from Sky Sports' Transfer Centre (09/01, 16:58), the striker is apparently keen to make a return to the Premier League, amid interest from three clubs in the top-flight of English football.
Subsequent updates from Sky Sports identified Wolves as one of the clubs who are keen on the Scotland international, suggesting they have retained their interest in him from back in the summer.
As things stand, Adams' contract with Southampton is set to expire at the end of this season, meaning this month is set to be their last opportunity to cash in on him.
Yet despite that, it seems the Saints will only agree to do that, if an offer comes for the striker that they consider to be the right price. According to a recent update from TalkSport, the Championship promotion hopefuls have now placed a £6million price tag on Adams, which is arguably a considerable fee given his contract situation.
It seems as though one other potential destination for Adams during the January transfer window, could be The City Ground.
Back in the summer window, Nottingham Forest were another Premier League club to be linked with a move for the Southampton man, in a deal that obviously never came through, although it seems they, too, still retain an interest in him.
According to fresh claims from Premier Lig Turkiye, via the Nottingham Post, Forest are another club keen on Adams this month, although they too note that competition for his signature could emerge from the likes of Wolves and Crystal Palace.
