Luke Berry's message suggests that Charlton Athletic are confident ahead of their League One fixture against Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
Luke Berry believes that Charlton Athletic are a better team than Bolton Wanderers, ahead of the League One clash between the two sides at The Valley on Saturday.
Charlton have enjoyed a perfect start to their League One campaign, with a 1-0 away win against Wigan Athletic on the opening day and a home victory over Leyton Orient by the same scoreline last week.
Those two results were separated by a narrow 1-0 defeat to Birmingham City in the first round of the Carabao Cup, meaning the Addicks have their full focus on the league for now, and will be hoping to make it three wins from three when Bolton Wanderers visit SE7 this weekend.
The Trotters have an excellent recent record against Charlton, with last season's 3-3 draw being the first time the Addicks have avoided defeat in six attempts since they beat Bolton in 2017.
However, Berry, who signed for Charlton this summer following his release from Luton Town, believes that the time has come for his side to end their poor run of results against Ian Evatt's team.
Berry scored an injury-time winner during last week's victory over Leyton Orient, ensuring that Charlton's strong start to the League One season continued.
The 32-year-old spoke to London News Online after the game, and looked ahead to the fixture against Bolton.
said Berry.
"Bolton won't be any different. We feel like we're a better team than them and we need to prove it. It's starting with all those basics and intensity - being us."
It perhaps should not come as a surprise that Berry's confidence is so high, considering he was part of a Luton team that won the title the last time he played in League One, and Jones was manager for much of that season.
While it is still early days, there is a feel-good factor at The Valley that has not been present in recent years, and if Charlton can get a good result against Bolton, it could give them the platform to go and have a successful season.
While Berry and his teammates may feel confident that they are a better team than Bolton, they are not in for an easy game on Saturday.
The Trotters missed out on promotion to the Championship in the League One play-off final last season, so they will be looking to go one better and secure a return to the second tier this time around.
Evatt has strengthened his side with several signings over the summer, including Klaidi Lolos, John McAtee, and Szabolcs Schon, adding to a squad that already includes players who have caused Charlton problems over the years, such as Dion Charles and Ricardo Santos.
Bolton will provide Charlton with a real test, and an opportunity to send a message to the rest of the teams in the division, so it is bound to be an entertaining game on Saturday.
The Addicks' supporters will hope that Luke Berry is right to be confident, and Charlton can prove they are a better team than Bolton, and in doing so, show they are one of the top sides in League One this season.
