Charleroi have announced the signing of 21-year-old Check Keita from Stade de Reims. The central defender has signed a contract with the club that will run until 2027 and includes a team option to add another year. Keita is eligible to play for both France and Mali. He has represented France at U20 level a few times.
Last season Keita spent the year on loan with SC Bastia in the French second tier. The defender made 27 appearances for the club in Ligue 2, scoring one goal and picking up eight yellow cards. He leaves Stade Reims have only made 10 appearances, which came during the 2022/2023 season.
Charleroi have been one of the more active sides in Belgium so far this summer. They have already signed two new goalkeepers, a handful of defenders and a former Marseille midfielder. The side are also linked to Ghanaian winger Raymond Asante from Udinese.
