Madagascar's path to the 2025 CHAN final

Madagascar has been the revelation of this 2024 African Nations Championship. In only their second appearance at a final tournament, the Malagasy squad has surpassed their third-place finish from 2022.

The Barea kicked off CHAN 2024 with a disappointing draw against Mauritania (0-0) and a defeat to Tanzania (2-1). They bounced back by beating the Central African Republic (2-0) and Burkina Faso (2-1).

Finishing second in Group B (7 points), just behind Tanzania, Madagascar knocked out Kenya (1-1, 4-3 on penalties) in the quarter-finals.

In the semi-finals, Nomena Lalaina Rafanomezantsoa and his teammates fought valiantly to edge out Sudan, the other surprise package of the tournament, after extra time (1-0).
