CHAN 2024 - Madagascar vs Morocco: The Atlas Lions' road to the final

To reach their third CHAN final, Morocco didn't have an easy path. The Atlas Lions made their return to the competition after missing the 2022 edition, coming in as back-to-back champions (2018, 2020).

Tarek Sektoui's men finished second in Group A behind hosts Kenya. They collected 9 points from 3 wins and just one defeat.

After an opening win over Angola (2-0), Morocco fell to Kenya (0-1). But they quickly bounced back, proving it was just a minor setback, by clinching back-to-back victories over Zambia and DR Congo, both by a 3-1 scoreline.

In the quarterfinals, Mohamed Hrimat and his teammates saw off the hosts Tanzania (1-0). They then toppled reigning champions Senegal in the semifinals, winning on penalties (1-1, 5-3 on penalties). That triumph confirmed the local Lions as the true favorites for the title, as it came against the defending champions.
