As we approach the final few days of the January transfer window, teams across the Championship will be looking to put their stamp on their respective squads.

Some clubs have enjoyed a very productive window, with Hull City one of the winners of the window in the second tier.

Managing to secure a loan deal for Fabio Carvalho and bringing in other players including Billy Sharp, they have built on a productive summer window.

With that, the Tigers have given themselves a real opportunity to secure promotion back to the Premier League, having been in League One not so long ago.

There’s still time for teams in both halves of the division to make more signings, with plenty of speculation flying around at the moment.

We take a look at some of the most recent transfer stories to emerge.

Aston Villa make new Morgan Rogers bid

Premier League side Aston Villa have made a third bid to try and sign Middlesbrough star Morgan Rogers.

That's according to The Athletic, who have also reported that Unai Emery's side are hoping to wrap up a deal before the transfer deadline.

The offer is believed to be in the region of £15m, including add-ons, but Boro are in a strong negotiating position considering the player only signed a long-term contract in the summer following his move from Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has registered seven goals and nine assists in 33 competitive appearances, making a real difference in the league and in the EFL Cup for Michael Carrick's men.

Charles Sagoe in, Jack Clarke out at Sunderland

Sunderland are in talks to sign Arsenal winger Charles Sagoe, according to a report from TEAMtalk.

The Gunners' youngster has been included in Premier League and Champions League squads, but his only appearance of the campaign so far came in the EFL Cup.

With this in mind, Mikel Arteta's side may be willing to let him go out on loan to give him a chance of securing more game time.

Lazio, meanwhile, have made a £15m bid to lure Black Cats star Jack Clarke away from the Stadium of Light, according to The Sun.

Michael Beale's side are believed to be determined to retain the player beyond this month, but their resolve could be tested considering the volume of interest there has been in him in recent months.

Registering 13 goals and three assists in 29 league appearances this season, it's no surprise that he's attracting interest elsewhere.

Alan Nixon believes Chelsea have now joined the race to recruit Blackburn Rovers midfielder Adam Wharton.

The 19-year-old, who has been one of the first names on the teamsheet at Ewood Park this term, did enough during Rovers' clash against the Blues in the EFL Cup back in October to spark interest from Mauricio Pochettino's side.

The West London outfit went to watch him in action last week and could potentially beat Crystal Palace to his signature.

Roy Hodgson's side have submitted an £18.5m bid for the England youth international's signature, but seemingly aren't willing to offer more, with Blackburn demanding around £25m.

Wharton doesn't want to go out on loan next season though - and with the Blues having plenty of quality options at their disposal - that may prove to be a stumbling block in agreeing personal terms.

Southampton update on Manuel Benson pursuit

Burnley winger Manuel Benson is inching closer to a switch to Southampton, according to journalist Sacha Tavolieri.

The Belgian is keen on the move and with the Saints keen to get a deal over the line, the Clarets are in "concrete" talks to recruit him.

It's believed that Benson would join the club on loan with an option to buy, if the Saints manage to secure a deal for him.

However, Leeds United are also in the race along with other second-tier teams, so a switch to St Mary's may not be certain yet.

Sunderland boost in Amad Diallo race

Manchester United starlet Amad Diallo could potentially go out on loan this month, according to Football Insider, who believe the Red Devils are open to offloading him again temporarily.

The Black Cats would need to pay 50% of his wages though, although it's unclear whether this would be a barrier to the Black Cats getting a deal over the line for the Ivorian.

Beale's side are certainly keen on him though - and they are keen to secure his signature - even with United not keen to include an option to buy in any loan switch before this week's deadline.
