Inter Milan remain in the fray for Jaka Bijol, but the competition for the defender’s signature is growing, with Bologna joining the queue.
The Nerazzurri have been searching the market over the past few weeks for a new defender.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi feels the need for an additional profile at the back with Carlos Augusto switching back to the left flank to cover for the injured Tajon Buchanan.
The Italian champions thought they had found the right profile in Hellas Verona’s Juan Cabal. However, Juventus Football Director Cristiano Giuntoli interfered at the last instance to sway the player to Turin.
Hence, Inter are once again exploring their options on the market. The Beneamata are being linked with the likes of Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior and Genoa’s Johan Vazquez.
Nevertheless, Bijol remains one of the names on the shortlist.
The 25-year-old has been plying his trade in Udine since making the move from CSKA Moscow in 2022.
The Slovenian immediately cemented himself as a stalwart at the back for the Zebrette.
But according to Sportitalia via FcInterNews, the Serie A champions are facing growing competition for Jaka’s services.
The source reveals that Bologna have now entered the fray for the Slovenia international.
The Emilians are preparing for their maiden campaign in the Champions League following their historic qualification last season.
The Rossoblu will likely sell Arsenal’s primary transfer target Riccardo Calafiori, so they will require a replacement at the back.
Therefore, Bologna decided to enter the race for Bijol, joining Inter and others in the hunt.
The centre-back’s list of suitors also includes Atalanta, Stuttgart and Nottingham Forest who are trying to lure him to the Premier League.
Bijol’s contract with Udinese runs until June 2027 and the club’s asking price is around 17 million euros.
