As the 2024-2025 season draws to a close, it's time to look back and remember the highlights of the Rouge et Blanc's season, which also marked AS Monaco's 100th anniversary.
It was a year rich with emotion. Receiving their reward for the second time in a rowe with a ticket for the group stage of the Champions League, the Principality club’s players have perfectly closed the book on this 2024-2025 season, the AS Monaco Centenary season. So while this anniversary was obviously the highlight of the season, here’s a look back at some of the the highlights that also marked this year. Flashback 🎉
Indeed, how could we not mention the AS Monaco Centenary celebrations? While the Club officially celebrated its 100th birthday on August 23 (1924-2024), the match against Montpellier on September 28 was chose to mark the occasion. Between a welcome for the Club Legends, pre-match entertainment, and a fireworks display to close a successful evening (2-1), the festivities were something special for fans of the Rouge et Blanc!
The start of this season was also marked by two prestigious victories against FC Barcelona. The first came at the end of preseason, as part of the Joan Gamper Trophy, won with style by the players of Adi Hütter at the Stade Olympique Lluís Companys in Montjuïc (3-0). Then came the team’s opening match in the Champions League, a first for the Club in six years, played in a Stade Louis-II which saw Maghnes Akliouche pull the strings in a big win (2-1).
So it was after six long seasons of absence from the competition that the club from the Principality celebrated its return to the Champions League! It was a very honorable performance all told, with a total of 13 points won in the group stage and victories against Barça therefore, Red Star Belgrade (5-1), Bologna (1-0) and Aston Villa (1-0).
We have had great success with a very young team and playing around ten more games, with this Champions League campaign ending with 13 points, having faced three of the four semi-finalists in the competition.
This return would help the team play a Round of 32 tie against Benfica, which would unfortunately see the Monegasques fall to their Portuguese opponents. It was a legitimate disappointment, even if they will had faced three of the four semi-finalists of the 2024-2025 tournament along the way.
It was a fine performance, therefore, which would not prevent Denis Zakaria’s teammates from securing a second consecutive qualification for the Champions League, with a very fine third place in Ligue 1 . But an event too, since it was the team’s ninth podium secured in the space of 12 years, and the 31st in the history of AS Monaco, the most in the French top flight!
But if this quest for the Top 3 was able to be successfully achieved by the Rouge et Blanc, it is largely thanks to the results obtained at the foot of the Rock. After a decent first half of the season in the Principality (5 wins in 9 matches, 17 points taken), the teammates of new arrival Mika Biereth (almost) had a perfect record at home.
I'd like to thank our fans for their encouragement! It was important to see them tonight, and we were able to repay their trust. They have often come out in large numbers to the away ends during our trips and supported us during every home game. They therefore played an important role in this qualification. I loved the atmosphere tonight; it's a fantastic night for AS Monaco!
Adi HütterAfter the home win over Lyon
In the season’s second half, the team have in fact recorded 7 wins in 8 matches, to remain unbeaten at home in 2025. And this was done with prestigious victories in the run-in, against Nice in the Derby, Marseille, and then Lyon to seal a place on the podium.
If this almost perfect record at home (2nd in Ligue 1 with 39 points behind PSG) in the second half of the season was possible, it is also largely thanks to the incredibly clinical play of the Danish striker in front of goal. Scorer of 13 goals in 16 rounds in Ligue 1 since joining in the winter window, he scored 11 goals at his new home!
Perfectly suited to the team’s style of play, he has integrated into the heart of midfield as quickly as Lamine Camara, a true revelation this season. Just like Christian Mawissa, who has become very important in defense over the past five months, this is proof of the Monegasque recruits’ successful adaptation, despite their young age.
It was these contributions from the new Monegasque youngsters, which certainly helped the team achieve its main objective: the Champions League. Even if none of this would have been possible without the support of the Rouge et Blanc supporters, who came in large numbers to the Stade Louis-II during this Centenary season!
In any case, I would like to thank our supporters, who were once again there in great numbers to support us in the stands, as they have always done this season, and apologize to them.
With an increase in attendance of around 20% and a sharp rise in the number of season ticket holders, the Fontvieille stadium was consistently buzzing. This was also true of the away ends, with over 9,000 fans in attendance over the team’s 17 away games in the top flight. So congratulations to the fans too!👏
For this 2024-2025 season, the most loyal supporters of the Club also had the chance to witness the release of six different jerseys. In addition to the traditional Home, Away and Third kits, the fans also had the opportunity to obtain a special Centenary jersey, all in black, designed as an homage to the first in the team’s history.
There was also a reissue of the team’s Coupe de France-winning kit from 1960, as well as a singular collaboration with fashion brand Koché.
