Daizen Maeda’s hat-trick against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup 5th Round at Celtic Park last night took the Japan International forward’s goals total for Celtic to 50 as his appreciation soars among the Celtic supporters…

The worst Celtic player ever!

It wasn’t too long ago that someone in our comments section complained about our praise for Daizen and argued that he was the worst ever Celtic player! It was an incredibly stupid assessment then and Daizen has gone on to make it look even more ridiculous with every game he’s played since.

Daizen was harshly sent off against BSC Young Boys, mostly due to the heavily edited clip that the referee was shown by the VAR, who seemed to be justifying his own decision to call the referee to the screen.

That was a shocker but what followed from UEFA was even worse when they actually upgraded the penalty to a two game suspension thus ruling Daizen out of the games against Aston Villa at Villa Park then the first leg of the play-off tie against Bayern Munich.

Daizen must have been devastated when he heard that bad news but he’s actually raised his game to another level since then – just ask Motherwell, Dundee and now Raith Rovers.

Only one Celtic starter has a song

Yesterday Brendan Rodgers played only one likely starter for Wednesday night, the Celtic captain Callum McGregor. Daizen was the only other starter from the team that kicked off against Dundee in Wednesday night. Yesterday’s team only had one player who had a song – and that was ‘There’s no-one better, Callum McGregor’.

The Green Brigade chanted that, but the only other players to get a song sung yesterday was actually Kieran Tierney, who won’t be back to the summer, Jota on the wing – both those songs were picked up from their previous stints wearing the Hoops and Reo, Reo Hatate when those two came off the bench.

Where are the songs for Daizen Maeda, Nicolas Kuhn, Adam Idah etc?

During Brendan’s first spell the support had brilliant songs for Stuart Armstrong, Moussa Dembele and of course Scotty Sinclair and these would follow their goals. We need to get creative folks, especially with squad rotation leaving the song book very light.

Here’s the Unique Angle from Celtic TV from yesterday’s 5-0 win over Raith Rovers in the 5th round of the Scottish Cup…
