Celtic remain in contract discussions with highly-rated attacker

Celtic remain in talks with Rocco Vata about signing a long-term contract at the club. The 18-year-old’s future has been the subject of much discussion over the last few months but it seems that the club are keen on retaining the talent.

According to the Daily Record, the club and the player remain in discussions as they look to find an accord.

The Irishman has scored one goal in six first-team appearances with his strike coming against the Highland League side. However, he has been involved with the first team more as he looks to get the exposure with Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Vata has 18 appearances for Celtic B this season as well as an impressive haul of 11 goals to his name. However, he has made just four appearances for the First Team in his time with the club. Bologna and Coma are still hoping that they can convince the player to swap Glasgow for Italy; however, the negotiations with Celtic are still ongoing.

Vata joined CAA Base Agency in the summer, which indicated that he would be likely to move on last summer but no deal was forthcoming leaving him to be deployed in the Lowland Leagues by Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea. Maybe, if he is to sign a new contract, we will see him being utilised more in and around the first team or making a loan switch – like Ben Summers, Bosun Lawal and other B Team stars have.

Rumours have circulated that he would likely go to Serie A but the player’s dad said that’s his son wanted to remain at Celtic. Hopefully a deal can be agreed as there is clearly a talented player there that possesses numerous attributes that would make him perfect to play under Rodgers.
