WEDNESDAY 17th MAY 1905 – Still very much on a high after winning the League Championship this year, Willie Maley’s young side go to Cathkin Park to defeat Queen’s Park 3-0 in the semi-final of the Glasgow Charity Cup. The goals are all scored by Jimmys – McMenemy, Quinn and Hay – and the 8,000 crowd are delighted by the excellence of their play.
SUNDAY 17th MAY 1914 – Celtic draw 2-2 with Ferencvaros in Budapest. Jimmy McMenemy and Jimmy McColl (with a penalty) score for Celtic. No-one watching this game could possibly have guessed what was coming to the world in 1914.

SUNDAY 17th MAY 2009 – One of the more painful days of supporting Celtic as they quite simply fail to score. A win would have seen then on top of the League on goal difference, as Rangers won yesterday, but it is toothless 0-0 draw at Easter Road and Celtic never look like Champions. Manager Gordon Strachan’s days are numbered after this, and some of the players look unhappy as well.
