Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has dropped a promising injury update on Adam Montgomery.

What’s the latest?

In recent comments cited by 67hailhail, the 56-year-old Bhoys manager revealed that, despite the left-back picking up a knock in training on Friday, which ultimately ruled the 19-year-old out of contention for the 2-0 win over Motherwell, he should be available for the visit of Ferencvarosi in the Europa League on Tuesday.

Speaking about the current condition of the defender, Postecoglou said: “We’ll see how everyone pulls up. Adam Montgomery, as I said, missed out today, but he should be available [for Tuesday].”

Fans will be buzzing

Considering just how impressive Montgomery has been for Celtic this season, the news that the youngster appears to be available for the Hoops’ crunch match with Ferencvarosi in midweek is sure to have left fans buzzing.

Indeed, after making four substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership this term, the £135k-rated man was handed his first league start of the campaign in the 2-1 victory over Aberdeen before the international break, with the left-back demonstrating his abundance of potential against the Dons.

Over his 90 minutes on the pitch, Montgomery had 88 touches of the ball, registered one assist, created one big chance and completed 60 passes, won six duels and was successful with three of his four attempted dribbles, as well as making two key passes, one interception and one clearance.

Can you guess which Celtic player scored the most goals during the season in question? Let's start with 2010/11...

Gary Hooper Anthony Stokes

These returns saw the teenager earn a SofaScore match rating of 7.2, the highest rating received by any of the Celtic defence on the day.

As such, with Postecoglou knowing that nothing but a win will do on Tuesday if his side are to have any chance of making it out of their Europa League group, the fact that Montgomery looks as if he will be available for selection is sure to come as a major boost to the 56-year-old – who is already having to make do without Greg Taylor at left-back.
