Feyenoord’s Thomas van den Belt, 23, is going on loan to CD Castellon. The Spanish club where Dutch coach Dick Schreuder is at the helm, play in the Segunda Division and Van den Belt will sign for the 2024-25 season with hopes of increased game time.
After joining the Rotterdam club following a successful spell at PEC Zwolle that saw 19 goals in 72 league games, the industrious midfielder only notched nine league appearances for the De Kuip residents.
According to Voetbal International, there were a number clubs in the market to take on Van den Belt. However, the play chose to play under Schreuder – the coach he had previously worked successfully under at PEC Zwolle.
There should be little issue for Dutch youth international Van den Belt to adapt, as he joins the Dutch coaching staff of Schreuder, as well as seasoned pro Jetro Willems, at Castellon.
