Gaetano Castrovilli is reportedly just a step away from completing a free transfer to Lazio following his departure from Fiorentina.
The 27-year-old Italian midfielder emerged as an exciting talent during his early years with the Viola but his time in Florence was derailed by a serious knee injury, which caused him to miss over 75 matches since April 2022.
Last year, Castrovilli was on the cusp of joining Premier League side Bournemouth, but the move fell through at the final moment as he failed his medicals, forcing him to return to Fiorentina. The club failed to renew his contract, allowing him to leave on a free transfer at the start of this month.
TMW details how Castrovilli underwent his pre-transfer medicals with Lazio on Tuesday and is now only a step away from joining the club. His agent Alessandro Lucci visited the Biancocelesti training ground on Wednesday morning to define the final details of his contract in Rome.
The 27-year-old will put pen to paper on a one-year contract with an option for a further two years linked to appearances. He’ll earn just over €2m net per season plus add-ons, deciding to join Lazio instead of the interested Bologna.
