Carlo Ancelotti scoops The Best FIFA Men's Coach award for 2024 | OneFootball

Carlo Ancelotti was named The Best FIFA Men's Coach for 2024 on Tuesday night after his Real Madrid side conquered Spain and Europe during the year.

It's the first time that Ancelotti has won the award since its inception in 2016, with second place in 2022 his best previous finish. He's the second Italian to scoop the prize after Claudio Ranieiri triumphed in the inaugural year for his stunning feats with Leicester City.

Ancelotti enjoyed yet another mightily impressive year in what has been an extraordinary career, guiding Real Madrid to a rare Champions League and La Liga double. He also won the Supercopa de Espana at the start of the year and can still add the FIFA Intercontinental Cup this week.

Los Blancos won La Liga by ten points in 2023/24, finishing well clear of Clasico rivals Barcelona. They lost just once in 38 matches as they secured a 36th title and a third in five seasons.

The Spanish giants also claimed a record-extending 15th Champions League title in June as they beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the final at Wembey Stadium. It was a fifth European crown for Ancelotti as a coach, the first two coming with AC Milan and the latter three with Real Madrid.

Ancelotti was favourite to claim FIFA's top men's coaching prize, especially considering he won the Johan Cruyff award at the Ballon d'Or ceremony back in October.

Four other managers were nominated for The Best FIFA Men's Coach award, including international coaches Lionel Scaloni and Luis de la Fuente. The former coached Argentina to victory in last summer's Copa America, while the latter won Euro 2024 with Spain.

Pep Guardiola was on the shortlist after another hugely successful 2024 with Manchester City - barring the last six weeks - and Xabi Alonso was nominated after winning an unexpected German domestic double with Bayer Leverkusen.
