Cardiff City have confirmed that manager Neil Warnock has left his role by ‘mutual agreement’.

Warnock was in the final year of his contract at Cardiff City Stadium and already confirmed his intention to leave at the end of this season.

However, Sunday’s defeat to Bristol City leaves the Bluebirds in 14th place, and both parties felt a parting of ways was necessary.

“Today I am leaving my beloved Bluebirds after three years  – of which have been some of the best days in my long football career,” Warnock told the club’s official website.

“It is a shared belief that this is the right time for a new voice as we believe this squad of players is more than capable of getting success.

“Finally, I would like to thank all you supporters for getting behind me and the team. I hope you have all enjoyed the journey.

“I am proud to leave the club as a united one and long may you all achieve the success that you deserve. Be lucky.”

Cardiff return to domestic action against Charlton on November 23.
