Championship side Cardiff City are on the verge of signing Ajax’s Sivert Mannsverk. According to De Telegraaf, the 22-year-old has agreed to join the Welsh side on loan for the remainder of the season. German second-tier side FC Nürnberg also made an offer for the midfielder, but the player and Ajax have chosen Cardiff City as his next destination.
Mannsverk has spent the last five months out of action with an ankle injury. He was deemed fully fit at the start of the month, but has found himself without a place in Francesco Farioli’s first team.
Sivert Mannsverk kick started his career with Norwegian side Sogndal, before joining Molde in the summer of 2021. Ajax spent around €6m on the Norway youth international in 2023, but he’s since gone on to make just 18 first team appearances.
Aside from the lack of game time, Mannsverk’s height and physical presence could make him a solid defensive midfield option for Cardiff, who currently sit 18th in the Championship table. The move appears to be a straight loan without an option or obligation to buy.
