Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut reportedly offered Fiorentina job

Italian giants Fiorentina have reportedly made an "official offer" for Cardiff City boss Erol Bulut, according to reports from AS Marca.

Bulut took over in the Welsh capital last summer, and has led the Bluebirds to an improved mid-table finish, and the club could still finish in the top ten this season. This is a huge improvement on the club's 2022/23 season when they would have been relegated to League One had it not been for Reading's points deduction.

Fiorentina are clearly impressed with the work that the Turkish manager has done with the Bluebirds and have reportedly made him an offer.

The Italian giants are currently led by Vincenzo Italiano and are currently ninth in the Serie A table, but they reached the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia, and they are through to the semi-finals of the Europa Conference League where they will meet Club Brugge on Thursday night.

Fiorentina's interest in Erol Bulut

Italian side Fiorentina aren't the first side to have shown an interest in Bulut in recent times, with Turkish giants Besiktas said to be keen on the Bluebirds' boss.

It may seem strange that clubs of Fiorentina and Beskitas' quality are keen on a man who's managing a side 12th in the Championship, but they've clearly been impressed with that way that he has taken a side that was languishing towards the bottom of the league and turned them into a competitive outfit.

Even more impressive is that Cardiff have been under an embargo which meant they couldn't pay fees for players, so Bulut has had to improvise and has shown how shrewd an operator he is in the transfer market.

With more money and better resources, it's clear that Bulut could be a success with Fiorentina, and it's easy to see why they are said to be interested in him.

Bulut also has a spell with Fenerbahçe on his CV, so he has experience of leading a top club, which may appeal to Fiorentina.

It remains to be seen what the future holds, but Bulut may find it very difficult to turn down a move to Fiorentina if their reported interest has any substance.

Cardiff City only have themselves to blame if Erol Bulut leaves

As it stands, Erol Bulut is out of contract at Cardiff City this summer, as he only signed a one-year deal when he joined in June 2023.

This means that any interested clubs won't have to pay compensation if they were to appoint him, yet another reason why Bulut could be piquing the interest of clubs around Europe.

Despite doing a good job with the Bluebirds this season, it was only earlier this week that owner Vincent Tan decided to open talks with Bulut over a new deal, which is very late considering it's the final week of the season.

This should have been sorted out months ago, and you wouldn't blame Bulut in the slightest if he felt disillusioned at Cardiff and decided to walk away this summer.

It may be too little, too late to keep hold of Bulut, and Cardiff will only have themselves to blame because his contract situation should have been sorted out a long time ago.
