Juventus Women's season begins on Sunday, 1 September, with an away game against Sassuolo. Coach Massimiliano Canzi discusses his expectations and those of the group ahead of the Bianconere's season curtain raiser.

“We are finally starting. There is a strong desire to get started and also a lot of focus, we have worked really hard in pre-season since 18 July. Now it gets serious.

LOOKING FORWARD TO THE START OF THE SEASON

“There is a positive atmosphere, as is often the case at the beginning of the season; there is a desire to get going after pre-season, during which we tested ourselves against high-level teams. We are all very curious, even those who have many seasons of experience under their belt are really keen to see where we stand compared to those around us: there is a great sense of anticipation.

A GOOD PRE-SEASON

“It has definitely been a great summer, if I had been asked to describe the best possible pre-season, I would have thought of something similar to what we have experienced. Although, from experience, I know that this does not always automatically mean that we will have a great season, because there is still a long and tricky campaign ahead with many highs and lows. We know that we're still not at 100% and that's normal, but now the team has a clear identity both in and out of possession, and credit must be given to the girls for their hard work.

ON SASSUOLO

“They are a well-organised team, with a clear identity; they are aggressive and strong in the challenge, moreover they have a good coach, who has great experience and a clear footballing philosophy: Sassuolo deserve great respect, it will not be an easy match.

WHAT DOES THE BOSS EXPECT THIS SEASON?

“I expect a season in which we will develop together as a team and that will allow us to face every challenge head on and give our all to win. The match performances depends on us, even before considering the result, and we must never forget that.”
